Description

These extremely rare dog-tooth burnishers from Italy are used in applying gold leaf in gilding. Gilding is done on illuminated pages, manuscripts, fine art, on leatherwork and woodwork. Fine artisans would hand down their burnishers to a family member or favorite apprentice. The hematite stone used in these tools is exceptionally smooth.
