Description
These dog-tooth burnishers from Italy are used in applying gold leaf in gilding. Gilding is done on illuminated pages, manuscripts, fine art, on leatherwork and woodwork. Fine artisans would hand down their burnishers to a family member or favorite apprentice. Polished agate is a traditional material used in making burnishers, and varies in color and pattern. These burnishers are sold individually – two burnishers are shown here to show color and pattern variation.
